The Science of Running with Jump Fitness
Description
Running is one of the simplest and most rewarding forms of exercise - but building a running routine that actually works for you is more individual than most people realise.
This two-part workshop series from Jump Fitness is designed to help runners move beyond generic plans and guesswork, giving you practical tools to understand your body, your training, and how to build a more personalised approach to running.
Workshop 1 (29th June) - How to Start Running the Right Way: Test, Not Guess
The first session focuses on understanding your starting point. You’ll explore movement screening, simple running physiology, and how fitness testing can provide valuable insight into your training needs.
You’ll also complete take-home assessments designed to identify movement limitations and establish baseline running markers, which will feed directly into Workshop 2.
Workshop 2 (3rd August) - Building Your Running System
Using the information gathered after Workshop 1, this session turns theory into action.
You’ll learn how training drives adaptation, how to structure your week effectively, and how to create a running plan built around your goals and abilities - not someone else’s template.
Dan describes himself as a very average athlete - but despite that, he’s completed multiple marathons and two Ironman triathlons (which he’ll happily tell you about if given the chance). Alongside endurance sport, he leads Sport and Exercise Science and Sport Performance programmes at the University of Gloucestershire and has spent over 10 years running Jump Fitness, mentoring and educating aspiring personal trainers entering the industry.
19:30 - 21:00.
