It was a dark and moody sky, with pendulous clouds, threatening menace. With the howling wind, the scene was set for the very first Dunkertons Halloween Twilight Cidery tour!
18 brave cider lovers ventured forth and were met in the shop with a glass of Dunkertons Premium Cider and a suitably spooky story playing over the sound system - exclusively written by published paranormal author Sonia Smith.
They were shortly joined by our Director, Bean Benson who, wearing his foreboding cape, led the group round to the pitch blackness of our pressing area for the tour to commence….
There certainly were some mysterious things going on in the cidery with strange and sudden noises disturbing the proceedings. What was that dark shape moving in the shadows? Did something just reach out at you? Our mischievous cidery ghosts were playing games with our tour party that night!
At the end of the tour, everyone was invited to try their hand at Pumpkin carving by candlelight. If you look on our Facebook page, you will see the wonderful attempts and be able to vote for your favourite.
Back in the shop, our Retail Manager, Alan along with his assistant, Trevor, treated the group to a couple of specially prepared food sample pairings and to discuss the relative ease of pairing cider with cheese. On offer this time, was some lovely, creamy Bath Soft cheese on Ciabatta bread, paired with our crisp Vintage, together with some Godminster Cheddar with our bespoke Orchard Chutney (made with our own cider) and some of our delightfully sparkling Perry.
It was then time for our brave group to have a relaxed meander around the shop before venturing outside to our food truck where, Bean and Trevor had prepared some hot Pumpkin & Apple soup with Pomme Frittes.
All in all, a great evening with everyone enjoying the experience. Next up is our last cidery tour of this year!
